16 Kuan Yin Bodhisatva

The Chinese know this Bodhisattva as Guan Shr Yin Pu Sa, and the Tibetans, as Cherezig. In the Pali or Tibetan traditions the Bodhisattva is represented as a masculine emanation and in the Chinese culture as feminine. Cultural perception has determined how the Bodhisattva has chosen to manifest in order to transmit the teachings and be of benefit to differing sentient beings. These bronze statues show her pouring the essence of compassion from the vessel in her hands.
In short, any living being that contemplates and whole-heartedly invokes the name of this Bodhisattva, in times of trouble or strife of any conceivable nature, will be heard from anywhere at any time and answered, and the distressed being will be spared of whatever difficulty they had encountered.
